Gordon is a Berwicks associate focusing on emergency planning and crisis management primarily with the Nuclear Industry. In addition he is a coach and trainer specialising in leadership and management development, change management and organisation development. He works across a range of organisations as diverse as Formula 1 teams to councils such as London Borough of Newham where he recently drove a major change initiative.
Gordon started his career as an outward bound instructor before being selected for a commission in the Royal Marines. He served operationally in Desert Storm as an intelligence officer. On the staff of the Naval Commander, his role was to anticipate and inform on Iraqi tactics and activity and brief on land operations. This required liaison with the Joint Force Headquarters in Riyadh and briefing all naval personnel deployed throughout the Gulf. Gordon was responsible for setting up and managing an Emergency control centre in response to the PIRA mainland bombing campaign in 1989. Other roles included training, staff roles in a busy brigade headquarters and officer selection.
Continuing his career in the public sector, Gordon moved to Kent and joined the NHS. He set up a Management Development business for South East Thames RHA providing training to KCC amongst many other public and private sector organisations. He completed an MBA at Warwick Business School before becoming a management consultant for Hay McBer focusing on strategic HR and organisation development.
Gordon went on to work in the finance sector and then the chemical Industry as European Head of HR and Training for ICI before again becoming a full time consultant in 2001.
Gordon is a Chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and member of the British Psychological Society. He is an accredited Executive coach working globally with a number of senior managers in a range of diverse organisations. When not working he is a keen diver and nature lover enjoying the peace and quiet of Dorset’s Jurassic coast.
